Automatic Adjustment of Thermal Stator Ageing during Durability Testing

Daniel Puscher, FKFS

Part of the development process of an e-machine is the testing of the developed component to prove its durability for the designed purpose. This usually takes place on a test bench. For this test, test programs are created that achieve a target damage for the relevant damage mechanisms. Depending on the data available, these test programs come from measurements and/or are obtained synthetically from models of the test specimen. Due to deviations between model and real behaviour, deviations occur. This deviation between the desired target and actual damage is usually counteracted by adapting the test program or the test specimen parameters. These adjustments are usually made by deploying personnel and therefore represent a cost factor. This paper presents a concept in which the test bench automatically adjusts the test specimen parameters to achieve the desired target damage. This concept is presented using the example of the damage mechanism of thermal ageing of the stator winding.
