This paper gives an overview of various test methods for interface testing in Vehicular Connectivity Systems (VCS) by example of using Cellular Vehicle-to-X (C-V2X) technology. It begins by introducing model-based test approaches in the field of automotive electronic control unit testing. With the help of previous foundation, we identify different interfaces that can be tested and categorize current research into their interface-under-test (IuT). In conclusion, missing test approaches and strategies are identified – also by use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) based methods to optimize the performance and the reliability of the test results. The AI-Applications comes to apply to generate test data and testcases to validate critical use cases for the IuT. Our AI-approaches are evaluated with real measurement data from vehicle fleets based on the vehicular connectivity. Additionally, we define requirements for tooling and test-setups for interface-testing, which has not been fully mature in the industry yet. Subsequently, we define a generic architecture which could be used as a Hardware-Independent Integration-Platform.
