LiMo is a promising approach to transporting people from their living space to their destinations in a cost-effective, convenient and barrier-free manner. At its heart is a multifunctional cabin that can be integrated into various transport systems (road, rail, elevated railway, cable car). It also functions as a lift cabin at the building and as an additional room element in front of the living room, which can be used, for example, as a mini conservatory or home office. If you want to be individually mobile, you can use an app to book a chassis, which drives itself from a nearby sharing depot to the building. Meanwhile, you enter your cabin, which descends via a sophisticated lift system and is put directly on the chassis. The connection between the cabin and the chassis temporarily creates a ‘modular vehicle’ that can travel to the desired destination either manually or autonomously. With dimensions of 2.5 x 1.2 x 1.85 (LxWxH), a weight of 450 kg and an electric drive power of 15 kW, it meets the requirements of vehicle category L7e (no airbags, no lane departure warning or emergency brake assist required). LiMo has the potential to revolutionise urban mobility. It combines the advantages of a private car (own passenger compartment) with the traffic-related benefits of car sharing. Compared to a private car, the need for parking space is reduced by a factor of 15 and travel costs by a factor of 3!
